Strokes are the third leading cause of death in the US. Stroke symptoms and signs of a stroke are sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arms or leg, especially on one side of the body. Other stroke symptoms can be sudden confusion, trouble speaking or loss of coordination. Stroke symptoms that occur for a short period of time are signs of a mini stroke and are called a transient ischemic attack (TIA).
