Vitamin D Supplements May Lengthen Life

Reasearchers have reviewed 18 studies involving 57,000 people and found that higher blood levels of Vitamin D in subjects that took Vitamin D supplements resulted in longer life and decreases in cancer and heart disease. More great news for the sunshine vitamin. Funny though, they still can’t wrap their little brains around the idea that nutrients from food and from supplements can positively effect health outcomes.

Deaths from Adverse Drug Reactions Triple!

So now your choice when you go to your doctor’s office for help is between an ineffective medication deigned to only suppress your symptoms…or death! Last Monday, the medical journal, Archives of Internal Medicine reported after reviewing reports from pharmaceutical companies, health pofessionals and the public that adverse drug reactions and deaths had tripled from 1998 to 2005. Talk about taking your life into your own hands when you go to the doctor!

Wouldn’t any reasonable person figure that vitamins and minerals are better if consumed through your diet and not from supplements? What possesed someone to even study this subject? Soy: The World’s Most Dangerous Food?

soybeans2.jpgI am a proponent of the soybean in our diet and as part of a balanced supplement program. The chemistry contained within it…polyunsaturated soybean oil, the protein content and the miraculous isoflavones…can be more than helpful for human health. I fell into an email debate with Sally Fallon, the president of the Weston Price Foundation, the nation’s largest anti-soy organization. They are funded by individual dairy farmers in part and by other corporations that have a vested interest in decreasing the popularity of the soybean.

Interviews of surgeons reported that diabetes improved in 88% of  patients who undergo gastric bypass surgery and almost disappeared in 77%.  The next sentence in the article is the most amazing: “Doctors don’t know yet why the weight loss surgery cures diabetes.”  After I stopped laughing…
