Reasearchers have reviewed 18 studies involving 57,000 people and found that higher blood levels of Vitamin D in subjects that took Vitamin D supplements resulted in longer life and decreases in cancer and heart disease. More great news for the sunshine vitamin. Funny though, they still can’t wrap their little brains around the idea that nutrients from food and from supplements can positively effect health outcomes.

NewsFlash!! Study finds calcium from food better for you than calcium from supplements. Huh? Wouldn’t any reasonable person figure that vitamins and minerals are better if consumed through your diet and not from supplements? What possesed someone to even study this subject? Reductions in the risk of cancer because of Vitamin D supplementation has been all over the news the last couple of weeks. This is just another study to add to many others that have confirmed to holistic physicians the benefits of this special vitamin in preventing colon, prostate and breast cancers (others also) as well as autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Crohn’s Disease, all forms of colitis and insulin dependent diabetes mellitus….and not to mention, prevention of osteoporosis. If you’re not taking Vitamin D…you should be.
