Dear Ellen: Ulcerative Colitis is an inflammatory and auto-immune condition of the colon (large intestine). Crohn's Disease is also inflammatory and auto-immune, but the location of the condition is in the small intestine.
Ulcerative Colitis symptoms and Crohn's Disease symptoms are diarrhea, usually accompanied with blood and mucous in the stool. Other symptoms can include pain, gas, bloating, indigestion, reflux and weight loss. Traditional medical treatment for Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn's Disease poorly manages these conditions with anti-inflammatory drugs that have unwanted side effects. Continued reliance on this approach may result in further deterioration of the small or large bowel and then require surgery to remove the unhealthiest sections.
Natural Ulcerative Colitis treatment and Crohn's Disease treatment consists of finding the cause of these conditions.
